THE DENIZEN ALCES URBANITE

The Denizen Alces Urbanite
Ink & Acrylics on Claybord, 30″ x 30″/76.2 x 76.2 cm

Price: $1,500.00 + taxes and shipping

His story reads:
He is a Mus. An eater of twigs. We considered his predecessor a solitary diurnal mammal that could run 35 miles/hr and swim 10 miles. Those abilities are no longer seen in this new breed. It has adapted to an urban lifestyle. His predecessor had poor eyesight and relied on its keen sense of smell. This new breed has kept the sense of smell and it has also developed a keen eyesight. A necessity, when maneuvering through busy cities.
It is rumored that this specie is slowly moving into cities to carry out active surveillance of human behavior. The intent is to provide feedback to the animal kingdom. With the information, animals can adapt their defense mechanics to guard against humans. It is also believed that this specie is learning to improve its camouflage technique to look like the city it lives in. One day, we won’t be able to see where it is. And, if we get too close, we might become a victim of its ultimate intent.

AVES CONDOR

The Multicolored Aves Condor
(A collaboration with Photographer Steven L. William)
Ink & Acrylics on Claybord, 24″ x 24″/60.96 x 60.96cm

Price: $525 + taxes and shipping

This painting is half a photo and half a painting.

Its story reads:

It’s predecessor is seen with disdain. It is believed to be dirty, ugly, and unhygienic because it consumes corpses. Turkey Vultures clean disease out of the environment, protecting animals and humans from getting sick. They consume corpses infected with anthrax, botulinum toxins, rabies, hog cholera, etc. Vultures also play an indirect role in helping authorities identify and find illegal poaching activity. They are the number one enemy of poachers, who poison the carcasses left behind, to kill them off.

To carry on its mission of protecting the environment, this new breed had to acquire what was needed to become a more appealing specie, deserving of human attention. It knew it couldn’t compete with Koalas. So, it evolved into a more colorful bird, with marks of golds in its wings. Colors, beauty, and shiny objects are all good tricks to mask the side of their being, humans don’t like. Are we now worthy of a picture or a painting? They asked. But these birds know their mission well and their worth in the ecosystem. They will not hesitate to get rid of those who threaten it. With that in mind, if you should find yourself injured, in the wild, know that you’ll meet a shiny, beautiful and colorful end. Not necessarily a bad end, Right?
